Frequently Asked Questions

Who can join the collaborative as a data contributor?

  • People who have previously conducted a research study or survey with PWID participants
  • People who are currently conducting a research study or survey with PWID participants
  • People representing organizations that provide clinical or any other services to PWID

Where can I find more information about the collaborative process and data methods?

More information can be found on our Data Methods page.

Can I contribute data for other indicators that are not on the list?

At this time, we are only collecting data on the indicators we have specified for research studies or service organizations. However, we may expand this list in the future.

How will the data I share be used?

The estimates you share will be used in meta-analyses in cases where sufficient data are available for individual indicators. Summary estimates will then be shared back with data contributors for internal use. Importantly, neither contributed data nor meta-analyzed estimates will be used in publications, presentations, or other public-facing products without your explicit permission. For proposed manuscripts or other public-facing products, we will request permission from contributors on a case-by-case basis and share details by e-mail at that time.

If I am unable to analyze my data for requested indicators, can I send you my full dataset?

We are not accepting line-listed or individual-level data at this time. While we are unable to provide support in preparing your data for submission, we are collecting information about support needs for those who wish to contribute data but do not have adequate capacity. Your feedback will help us to seek additional resources needed to improve this process for contributors. You may share this feedback by emailing us at pwidcovid@emory.edu or by completing this brief feedback survey.

What is the deadline for submission to participate?

At this time, there is no deadline. We are actively accepting submissions. However, we aim to start meta-analyzing estimates in early 2023, so sooner is better for maximum impact of contributions.

I’m not sure if my data will work for this – can I speak to someone?

Of course! Complete our contact form.
